The article describes the problems of noise and regularities of technical acoustics. It is the second of the series of articles which are to explain the principles of the branch of the environmental technics and the related branches. The effort of the authors of the individual articles of this series is to give a comprehensive information system in the form of the instruction courses.

The paper deals with the problems of proofing buildings against dammed water. Analyses the causes of its origin, the possibilities of proofing in our conditions and points out the advanced technical answer to this problem abroad.

The paper values criticalfy the ways of central heating designing in the past and reflects upon the changes brought about by the market economy. The conclusion deals with the prognosis of the heat price trend, considering combustion of all kinds of fuels in municipality owend apartment buildings.

The article summarizes the results of soil gas radon regional studies and evalnates the radon danger on the territory of the Czech republic.

The article contains experience of the author from the operational use and maintenance of the Iiquid system of the heat recovery used in the air-conditioning system in the Palace of Culture in Prague. It shows unambiguously the purpo­sefulness of the use of this system at which it does not conceal its operating troubles.
