AIR treatment in historical buildings PDF 8.8 MB

Abstract...

The paper deals with problems of saving valuable pictures, wall paintings, surface goldening, premises and other diverse components of decoration in interiors of massive historical buildings. The analysis of the role of both temperature and humidity of the interior air proves the important role of thermodynamical equilibrium which is represented by sorption isotherms of diverse materials taking part. On the other side, however, the thermal inertion of the construction of the massive building has to be considered. To unite these both principal points of view, a rational method to define a convenient state parameters of interior air was developed. It bases on an interior temperature curve (Eq. 2) copying the character of a smoothed exterior temperature, whereas the interior relative humidity depends on the interior temperature (Eq. 3) to complay with a convenient interval around the sorption equilibria as possible of all materials taking part. The method was applied in the project of saving 129 gothic pictures and golden decoration of the Saint Cross Chapel of the gothic State castle Karlstejn in central Bohemia. An air conditioning unit with a special programmed control system were delivered and, since Autumn 99 set in service.

Historical ventilation systems PDF 4.2 MB

Abstract...

The article deals with historical ventilation systems from the period before the industrial revolution. The development of ventilation is divided into three chapters presenting the ancient Egypt systems, ancient world systems and systems of the turn of 19th century. An independent part is devoted to the large-scale system in Plasy baroque monastery.

Fire doors, smoke-proof doors and smoke-proof fire doors PDF 107 kB

Abstract...

This information continues the article in VVI 5/2000 where the new legal set-up in the field of fire protection of constructions was presented. Ministerial regulation of the Ministry of the Internal Affairs No. 202/1999 Coll., specifying the technical conditions of fire doors, smoke-proof doors and smoke-proof fire doors, settles in a completely different way the system of doors configuration markings, marking of their property types and identification including technical requirements of their building in into the construction. Information is supplemented by illustrating pictorial part.

Summarization of the small local loss in case of plastic piping designing PDF 289 kB

Abstract...

The author tries to draw the attention to the neglected local loss caused by the internal weld reinforcement on plastic distribution piping welded by „butt welding“ method. The indicated case proves that this loss is not negligible in the case of the assembly of long piping systems and that even its simple evaluation is technically sufficient and very important for the orientation of designers.

Experience with investigation of microorganisms in indoor air in hospitals PDF 57.9 kB

Abstract...

The article deals with the results obtained by investigation of microorganism concentrations in the air of 54 rooms of hospitals equipped with air-conditioning. The average concentration of moulds in the air in hospitals was lower than the concentration used to be found in households; the concentration of microorganisms in the air in hospitals was not influenced by their concentration in the surrounding air.

Energy simulation of traditional and adaptive thermal comfort PDF 1.2 MB

Abstract...

The intent of the presented study was to quantify the implication for energy demand of indoor temperature requirements based on a proposed adaptive thermal comfort standard [7] relative to a more traditional thermal comfort approach. The study focuses on a typical office situation in a moderate climate such as in the Czech Republic and in The Netherlands.
